Dragonus, the Skywrath Mage, is an aggressive, high-burst Intelligence hero in DotA 1, unmatched in his ability to single-handedly delete targets from the battlefield. With an incredible +4.1 Intelligence growth, his damage output scales aggressively as the game progresses, allowing him to dominate early-game skirmishes and remain a lethal threat in late-game teamfights. His kit is designed for precision and amplification; by marking enemies with magical runes and raining down devastating mystical fields, he punishes any hero foolish enough to stand alone against his avian wrath.

4. Item Build Guide
| Phase |
Recommended Items |
Strategic Purpose |
| Early Game |
Null Talisman, Bottle, Arcane Boots |
Null Talismans maximize Arcane Bolt output. Bottle provides sustain for frequent ganks, and Arcane Boots fuel the high mana costs of your ultimate. |
| Core Items |
Rod of Atos, Aether Lens, Veil of Discord |
Rod of Atos roots enemies in place for your ultimate. Aether Lens extends your range, and Veil of Discord amplifies your combo's massive burst. |
| Late Game |
Aghanim's Scepter, Scythe of Vyse, Octarine Core |
Aghanim's Scepter doubles your target capacity. Scythe of Vyse ensures your target stays inside Mystic Flare, and Octarine Core provides spell lifesteal. |
5. Quick Gameplay Tips
- The "Atos-Flare" Combo: Always use Ancient Seal before casting Mystic Flare. Not only does the silence prevent the enemy from escaping, but the spell damage amplification is multiplicative with your total burst, ensuring that the target receives the full, boosted damage potential of your ultimate.
- Arcane Bolt Spam: Because the cooldown of Arcane Bolt becomes extremely short (as low as 2 seconds at level 4), you should be casting it on cooldown during chases. The projectile also grants vision, which you can use to track enemies through the fog of war or to check high-ground areas without placing yourself in danger.
- Positioning for Mystic Flare: Mystic Flare distributes damage among all heroes in the zone. If there are creeps or summons nearby, they will soak up the damage, significantly reducing the impact on your primary target. Always try to cast it on isolated heroes to guarantee that they take the full, devastating brunt of the spell.
