Hero Skills Breakdown

1. Echo Stomp

Calls upon the spirit of his ancestors to join him in an earth-shattering echo, rendering nearby foes unconscious. The spirit and Tauren Chieftain both deal damage in the area, the Spirit dealing magical damage and the physical form dealing physical damage. Unconscious enemies will wake if they get damaged too much. If the spirit is separated from you, it will still perform its part of the spell.

  • Cast Type: Channeling / Cast Time
  • Cast Time / Channeling Duration: 1.3 seconds
  • Area of Effect (AoE): 500
  • Damage Types: Physical (from Hero form) / Magical (from Spirit form)
  • Mechanic: Targets are incapacitated until the status duration ends or until they take a specific threshold of damage, which wakes them up immediately.
Level Sleep Duration Damage Per Form Damage Threshold to Wake Cooldown Manacost
1 2 seconds 70 50 damage 14 sec 100
2 3 seconds 100 100 damage 13 sec 100
3 4 seconds 130 150 damage 12 sec 100
4 5 seconds 160 200 damage 11 sec 100

2. Ancestral Spirit

The Tauren Chieftain sends forth his guardian ancestor to bring ruin upon his foes. While separate from the Chieftain, the spirit will damage any unit it passes through. When it rejoins the Chieftain, it grants him some bonus damage, movement speed, and some armor per each enemy it has struck. Enemy heroes grant more value for bonuses.

  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Pass-through Damage: 50
  • Buff Duration: 10 seconds
  • Movement Speed Bonus: +1% per creep / +7% per enemy hero
  • Scepter Upgrade: Provides 2.0 seconds of Spell Immunity per each hero affected.
Level Damage Bonus (Creep / Hero) Armor Bonus (Creep / Hero) Cooldown Manacost
1 3 / 20 0.5 / 1.5 23 sec 80
2 7 / 40 0.5 / 3.0 21 sec 90
3 11 / 60 0.5 / 4.5 19 sec 100
4 15 / 80 0.5 / 6.0 17 sec 110

3. Natural Order

The Tauren Chieftain uses wisdom gathered throughout the ages to reduce everything to its most basic level. Removes base Magic and Physical resistance from nearby enemy units in small range. If Ancestral Spirit is summoned, he carries a Magic resistance reducing part only, while the hero carries a physical resistance part only.

  • Damage Type: Passive Aura Modification
  • Aura Distribution: Split between Hero (Physical Armor reduction only) and Ancestral Spirit (Magic Resistance reduction only) when separated. They combine when the spirit is gathered.
  • Reduction Target: Applies strictly to base values and attribute-derived points, ignoring item bonuses.
Level Base Resistance Reduction % Cooldown Manacost
1 40% Passive 0
2 60% Passive 0
3 80% Passive 0
4 100% Passive 0

4. Earth Splitter

Using his mighty axe, the Tauren Chieftain rends the very earth itself, sending a jagged crack under the feet of his enemies. After a brief delay the earth implodes, sending his foes tumbling inwards. Any unit caught in the implosion will take damage, evenly divided into magical and smashing damage, and have their speed slowed for a short time.

  • Damage Type: Split evenly between Magical and Smashing (Physical) damage
  • Implosion Delay: 3.14 seconds (3 seconds execution threshold)
  • Mechanic: Forces all targeted units inward to the center line of the fissure.
Level Max Health Damage % Maim (Slow) % Maim Duration Cooldown Manacost
1 30% 30% 3 seconds 100 sec 125
2 40% 40% 4 seconds 100 sec 175
3 50% 50% 5 seconds 100 sec 225

Item Build Guide

Phase Recommended Items Strategic Purpose
Early Game Arcane Boots, Magic Wand, Bracer Shakes off early mana pool limitations to support casting the dual Echo Stomp and Ancestral Spirit combinations. Bracers reinforce overall health pool capacity for early team setups.
Core Items Blink Dagger, Eul's Scepter of Divinity, Black King Bar Blink Dagger guarantees optimal positioning to unleash Echo Stomp or place a perfect Earth Splitter crack. Eul's helps set up isolated targets or escape setups, while Black King Bar prevents channeling disruptions.
Late Game Shiva's Guard, Refresher Orb, Heart of Tarrasque Shiva's Guard pairs exceptionally well with Natural Order's physical breakdown, providing massive armor and slowing armor layers. Refresher Orb unlocks back-to-back Earth Splitter casts to completely split enemy forces in half.

Quick Gameplay Tips

  • The Stomp-Split Separation Strategy: Because Ancestral Spirit duplicates Echo Stomp, you should actively send your spirit out into the enemy backline to safely channel the stomp from afar. The moment the targets are put to sleep, immediately line up Earth Splitter directly under them. The 3-second delay of Earth Splitter aligns beautifully with the maximum sleep durations, ensuring they take massive damage without waking up early.
  • Exploiting the Natural Order Nullification: Natural Order reduces base magic and physical defenses by a flat 100% at maximum rank. To make the most of this, coordinate with high physical-burst carries or magical area-of-effect nukers. Placing your Ancestral Spirit on top of high-defense targets immediately deletes their base magic armor, causing your spells to hit for full unmitigated value.
  • Sweeping for Maximum Spirit Buffs: Before recalling your Ancestral Spirit to engage, steer the projection to pass through large enemy creep waves and multiple opposing heroes. The scaling damage and armor bonuses accumulated from a massive sweep turn Cairne into an incredibly tanky, hard-hitting physical right-click threat for 10 seconds following recombination.
